Holy Mackerel

In Holy Mackerel, it is up to you, a former pastor, to use your trusty Holy Fishing Gun to fight fish from Hell with everything you’ve got! The Devil and his fishy demons are going to learn a new Holy Trinity: faith, fishing, and firearms.

I worked on the action arcade shooter Holy Mackerel during my Junior year of college. During it, I embraced the roles of Assistant Producer and Technical Artist. Working on this project helped me find my niche within game development, particularly project management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Efficiently planned meetings, mitigated project risks, and delegated weekly tasks to a team of 11 developers on YouTrack.
Example of a weekly scrum board
  • Actively maintained the game’s design wiki and art bible, ensuring that all team members had access to up-to-date information and guidelines.
  • Created the game’s technical art, rendering, and lighting features using Unity’s Universal Render Pipeline, character joint system, and cloth simulation.

My work on cloth simulation, custom shaders, and environmental lighting significantly contributed to the game’s aesthetic and game-feel.

Game Trailer

Beyond my technical responsibilities, I had a blast recording voice lines for the game’s trailer!
